Question: I had my hair cut short nearly a year ago. I’ve been trying to grow it out ever since, without much success. Every time it gets to that ‘awkward length’ I go and have it chopped off again. How can I get my long hair back?
Answer: It takes a lot of guts to have all your hair cut off, but once it’s gone it takes even more effort to grow it back again. It is hard to get past what you call the ‘awkward length’ but it can be done. You need to explain to your stylist what it is you’re trying to achieve – in this instance, long hair. They should then be able to offer ideas to keep your hair looking healthy and trendy while keeping the length you need to grow it back out. Good luck!
Question: I haven’t got lots of money to spend, but want to look after my hair. How often should I be having it cut?
Answer: The credit crunch means that we’re all being a bit more careful with our money, but I would suggest that you get your hair cut every eight to 10 weeks, depending on your hairstyle. And don’t sacrifice a good salon for a cheap one – it’s a false economy. It’s a worthwhile investment to spend a few extra pounds rather than living with a cheap haircut that you are not as happy with.
Question: How often can I get my hair dyed?
Answer: As a rule of thumb, you should have your hair re-dyed or highlighted every six to eight weeks. But this will depend on the amount of regrowth, which differs from person to person. Also, you can protect and maintain your colour with a good product such as Redken Colour Extend Rich Defender Protective Treatment.
